Jewellery Care

Fine jewellery is delicate and should be cared for accordingly. It is important to note precious metals and stones will be vulnerable to the environment. To extend the life of your jewellery and to keep items in optimal condition please follow the following care instructions:

  • Remove all jewellery before contact with soap, lotions, hand sanitizers, make up and other chemicals.
  • Jewellery should not be slept in as it may warp or break with friction. Lay it out flat before bedtime.
  • Remove jewellery before doing any activities such as gym or gardening.
  • Clasp necklaces when storing to prevent tangles.
  • Pearls, opals and emeralds should be treated with extra care.
  • DO NOT swim in chlorine and or salt water pools while wearing jewellery. It may damage the precious metals and gemstones and cause dulling or erosion.
  • Excessive sweating can cause damage to the gold as well.
  • Clean jewellery carefully with a soft cloth and warm water with a gentle cleaning liquid.
  • Do not clean pearls with any chemicals, abrasives or solvents.
  • Silver jewellery may turn black over time as it develops a patina (if not worn regularly).
  • Gold plating on jewellery items is not permanent, as it is a thin layer of metal coating the sterling silver. It will naturally wear off over time.
  • Natural/lab gemstones and even diamonds can crack or chip upon impact with the wrong object or if dropped
  • EOJ is not responsible for the maintenance of your jewellery and does not polish purchased jewellery, unless specified.
  • We recommend having your jewellery assessed annually for any movement or looseness if worn frequently.

Each EOJ jewellery piece comes with a standard one month stone replacement warranty. This warranty applies for stones smaller than 3mm, excluding centre stones.

Please be advised that it is the clients responsibility to check pieces regularly for loose stones or any damage to items.
